Founded by a husband and wife team of Herman Hall IV & Heather MacLean, since 2006 we have been the leader in kayaking, Although we work with Kitty Hawk Kites, we are an independently owned small business. They market and promote our activities, we deliver the activities. We hate marketing and self promotion; we LOVE being in the outdoors and helping people learn to kayak, surf, paddleboard and stay STOKED while on vacation.

The Outer Banks is a great place to spend the summer, work and enjoy life. We also provide housing for seasonal employees. We are in need of kayak guides, surf instructors delivery drivers and reservationists.

Scholarships for Summer Camp Programs for Families in Need
In order to bring stoke to everyone, we founded the SEA Scholarship for single parents of Dare County and Currituck County residents. The SEA Scholarship stands for Shawn, Ellen & Aiden Radford, a local couple who was struck by tragedy with the sudden passing of Shawn in the spring of 2019. Shawn’s humble and easy nature of were a breath of fresh air to everyone lucky enough to know him. In their families honor, we founded the SEA Scholarship to give away to a single parent family in need the most RADICAL summer camps on the Outer Banks: our 5 Day Shredutopia Camp, 3 Day Shredutopia Camp and the Jr Lifeguard Camp with Kill Devil Hills Ocean Rescue Lifeguards. Each year we will give away all 3 camps to a young girl and boy of a single parent family in financial need of summer camp financial aid. This is a 3 week scholarship with a $800 dollar value that provides an amazing water sports experience for a young boy and girl, while giving the family a break on the funds. Providing 2 weeks of stoke filled child care to two deserving groms is the least we can do to honor Shawn’s passing and give back to our local community who has given us so much over the years. At the Stoke Dispensary, dispensing stoke is what we do and we are honored to be able to and help support young people become the next generation of watermen and women on the Outer Banks. National Surf School & Instructor Association
The Stoke Dispensary was the first surf school on the Outer Banks to be certified by the National Surf School and Instructor Association. We have always put safety and professionalism first, and
American Canoe & Kayak Association
The Stoke Dispensary is the only kayak tour operator on the Outer Banks that requires all of our Kayak Guides to be certified and trained by the American Canoe and Kayak Association. This commitment to safety, training and professionalism insures the safest experience possible while on the water with us. Beware of other kayak tour operators who don’t require this. They may not know what the are doing.
CPR & First Aid Certifications
We train all of our staff in house and require CPR and First Aid certifications of all of our kayak guides and surf lesson instructors. This insures the safest possible experience.
